The Your Position area allows you to change the current Lat and Lon data reported by the AirMail program.
The Best Stations and Frequencies area lists the best stations and frequencies. This list is derived from the NTIA/ITS propagation models used by the AirMail program and is dependent on your location, date and time.
The Connection area buttons Start and Stop the connection process.
Once started the connection process will automatically cycle through the list. At each station and frequency in the list, the program will first set the radio's frequency. It will then ask you to listen to the channel and determine if there is any signal activity or high background noise. If you determine that the channel is clear, the program will attempt to connect. If a connection is made the program will wait until all the data has been transferred and then stop. If no connection is made or if you determined that the frequency was not clear then the program will repeat the process on the next station and frequency.
ConnectAid program offers several options for selecting the best stations and frequencies.
For advanced radio users who are adept at hardware installation the SoundDetector program is available. Building on ConnectAid, and using the computer's sound card to determine if the channel is busy, SoundDetector provides truly hands free operation.
